The Heart Of An Oak
giving of my shade and cool breeze,
Year
after year it was not hard.
I grew from a sapling among many tree's,
I
am happy here with the changing seasons,
I'm not afraid to snap from the freeze,
This
is why, let me tell you my reasons.
A little girl she lives over there,
she
plays beneath my many branches,
pretty as a summers day, she's so fair
nothing
escapes her gorgeous eyes,
They touch everything with care.
Year
after year she comes right here,
she sits there beneath my shade.
If
she should ever shed a sad tear,
Would she know that I am here?
Can
she know that I truely, truely care,
That I would protect her from any nightmare?
Alas
I can not do as I may
to this spot, I will forever stay.
Here
I am if she should ever need,
A friend to listen, if she should weep.
I
pray each night for God to Keep,
A watchful eye out, for her in sleep.
She
is my now and forever friend,
even though we may never speak.
